International Clearance

Think this is only for Professional players ?

Think again if you are over 10 and played football outside of England (this includes Scotland and Wales) then you need international clearance

International clearance is required by all players moving across borders to play football. It applies to all players of 10 years of age and over.

Please be vigilant when registering players. If you think they have played abroad they will need clearance back before they can play in England. ("Abroad" even applies to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). Make sure you ask your players if they have played outside of England before you register them. If they have, you will need to apply for clearance.

Clubs seeking International Clearance should make a request in writing to The FA Registrations Department Read more at http://www.surreyfa.com/suspensions

Dear All, please see the link below, it leads to a page where we would ask you to take the time to vote for Pam & Roy Lomax our president and his wife, they really are totally devoted to the league having served on the committee since 1968, 45 years of service is indeed an achievement, they attend all our events and still work actively for the good of the SYL. Please if you can go online and vote for them, I know they would be humbled but thrilled to win the award. The winners will be announced at the Community Shield later this year, it would be a great tribute to them  if they did win this award. Your help is appreciated, best regards, Frank

SCWGL 2013/14

Dear all, with the season over and as we plan for another I wanted to let you know about some of the changes that are planned for next season. As you are aware the league has for some time been looking at ways to try and enhance the competition for all our participants. There is a significant disparity in the ability level in female football, the FA have helped by having two year age gaps etc. but there still is an issue where teams in all divisions often run up cricket scores against each other. Just looking at the league tables this season shows an enormous gap in ability levels.    2 /June/2013

9 aside update

The SCWGL are pleased to announce that we will be running next season’s U12 age group as 9v9 football. There will be no 7v7 football at this age group. It is planned that next season’s Under 12s will move to this format in September 2012 and then remain at 9v9 until the end of the 2013/2014 season when they will progress to 11-a-side at U14. Each year we will introduce the new U12 age group to this process.

We believe that this will be good for the game and, more importantly, beneficial for the players’ development and enjoyment which, of course, remains paramount.

It is clear that there may be some teething problems posed by the introduction but we would ask Clubs to work with us and come together to find ways to make it successful.  Any team / Club which needs assistance implementing this change, e.g. help with goalposts and pitches, should e-mail 9v9@scwgl.org.uk  .

Regards - Karen Bailey -   General Secretary       27th March 2012

Goal Difference DOES NOT COUNT

There were a number of HUGE score lines last weekend.  You are reminded that goal difference DOES NOT COUNT in the Girls Divisions of the SCWGL.  Please refer to Rule 12 for details of how the Championship is determined.

Teams “thrashing” the opposition do not help anyone.  The winning team will gain very little (or even nothing!) from such a display and who could blame the players on the losing team if they decide they never want to put themselves through such humiliation again?  It may come as a shock to those of you who think you are playing in the UEFA Champions League, but some teams are only there for the enjoyment – they know they will never win the League but they turn up every week simply because they enjoy playing football and, without them, you would not have a League to play in.

I appreciate that it is difficult to stop your players scoring goals (since that is the point, after all) but I would urge the Managers to stop and think about the long-term effect they are having on the opposition.  Managers should consider switching their players around or even taking some players off the pitch to be fair to the opposition.  What is the likelihood of teams wanting to play you in the return match later in the Season?  Or even for the weaker teams to refuse to play you at all?  Yes, you would be awarded the points, but wouldn’t your girls rather be out there playing on a Sunday than sitting at home earning 3 points?

At the moment there are no “rules” on such matches but the FA take a very dim view on these issues and, if it continues, it is likely that they will end up imposing something along the lines of “matches must stop at 8-0” or “8-0 is the highest score that may be recorded”.   I am sure none of us want that so I would ask you all to use your common sense.

I will be monitoring the results over the next few weeks and reporting to the Management Committee at our Meeting at the end of this month. - Karen Bailey SCWGL Gen Sec
