Girls U-9 4v4 update
Dear Clubs
We will be starting a program of 4v4 football this season for Girls at the U9/U8 age group, this is a new initiative to offer flexible football for girls and allow clubs to grow a girls section at a younger age. If your club is interested in getting involved you only need four girls to start a team, this is open to all abilities.
I have attached a guide to the 4v4 fixtures and a registration form that needs to be completed by clubs and sent back to the 4v4 fixture secretary Jason free on Email: Jason.free@scwgl.org.uk. Please send this form back as soon as you can so we have an idea of numbers.
We aim to start the friendly fixtures as soon as clubs are ready, we will be running a festival on the 21st October 2012 at Imber court in Thames Ditton starting from 1pm. Please specify if you can make the festival on the registration form, if that’s too early for you please still send in the form so we have an idea of when you can start.
As this is a new format we are being very flexible and need clubs to be understanding, please see the Format document for more details on the pitch size, format and age groups. Please remember this is development football and should be fun for all participants. We encourage any ability players so they can be new to football or have some experience are all welcome.
Jason will be in touch with teams once you have submitted your form, he will send out further details about the festival on the 21st October once we know the numbers that want to attend.
Any questions please come back to me on jon.burr@scwgl.org.ik
Kind regards

The aim of the league and the Surrey County FA is to get girls into football at a younger age than in previous seasons. This format for the coming season will allow them to start playing small friendly matches where the emphasis is on taking part and having fun not the result.
We want to encourage clubs to start offering coaching sessions for girls at U9, U8 or younger to help establish a solid base of players to create teams for the next season. It will also improve standards within the girl’s game and increase ability levels of all players involved.
The 4v4 format allows clubs to take part with only a few girls and grow their squads gradually over the season. The league will organise the fixtures and matches for teams involved and the County FA will be supporting clubs to establish teams.
Open to girls from School Years 3 and 4 from September 2012.
Players who are registered Centre of Excellence Players in the football season are not eligible.
Clubs will be able to register more than one 4v4 team but we advise squads to have no more than 8 players per team.
Format
Format is 4v4; matches can be played on grass or 3G depending on clubs available facility.
A grading festival will be run for teams in October; following the grading festival teams will be put into ability banded groups.
Matches will be played every week on a Sunday morning, excluding half terms and holiday periods. Each team in their ability group will host the other teams and rotate venues every other week or play single fixtures if the home ground does not allow for more than one game.
Pitch Sizes: 30x20 yards, pitch sizes are just a guide and clubs can be flexible to what works for them. But please try and stay to this if you can the pitches can be marked out with lines or cones dependant on what works for the club.
Goals will be PUG (Pop up Goals) . Clubs again can use various size ones as long as the same size is used on the same pitch. Ideal size to be used will be the large one if possible.
