SYL Respect Pilot Week 3

As promised I will keep you all up to date on the SYL Respect Pilot as we go through the season. I will continue to publish these reports every 2 or 3 weeks. Hence I feel thatís it right 3 weeks into the season to inform everyone of how the Pilot is further evolving.  . 28/Sept/2016

SYL Respect Pilot

As promised I will keep you all up to date on the SYL Respect Pilot as we go through the season.

I have to say that yesterday was a moment to be proud of being associated with Youth Football, the feedback from Referees and Pitch Marshalls has been nothing but supportive of the pilot and its aims, and how much easier it will now be to nip the nonsense in the bud, making the Sunday morning football a fantastic place to be, especially for the Children. 13/Sept/2016

SYL Don't Spoil My Game

 Back in February 2016 I took to the keyboard to inform Clubs, Teams and adults of the league that unless people behaved better on a Sunday morning, then there could be a very serious event involving serious injury. This was on the back of what was an unacceptable weekend of abandoned games, threats to referees and general unruliness.  18/Aug/2016

Respect Pilot - Friendly Match for Pilot Photos


I am looking for a Friendly match being played on Sunday 7th or 14th August that I could attend and just play act a scenario with the referee and pitch marshallís, if anyone has a friendly match preferably, 9v9 or 11 v11, contact me and I can let you know what I am trying to achieve, I will keep the distraction from your match to a minimum. I just need some photographs to go into education material for referees and clubs

 Please find below the league  formats for the 2016 / 2017 Season. The Leagues are formulated by the League Chairman & General Secretary, this is based on the final league positioning from last season, personal preferences of teams and an assessment of standard of new teams joining the league

Respect Kits

All, as you know the League have been involved in a national press and TV campaign to help reduce the level poor behaviour at youth football matches. The league have invested funds in the region of £10,000 to help achieve this. We are therefore pleased to announce a package of equipment that represents great value to the support the clubs and improve the environment in which our children & young people play football  22/Jun/16

The pricing  is structured to  incentivise clubs to attend any Registration meeting, while paying a premium for registering by post  before the start of the season and then throughout the season registrations are cheaper, saving clubs more money.

Fixture Secretary

 We are still looking for 2 or 3 fixture sectaries for next season, The role will be to handle half of the big age groups, around 50 teams.

To be able to carry out the role the following is required of the person:-

1) Organised and reliable 2) PC literate email and general browsing capability to access Prawn sandwich with instruction 3) Microsoft Excel iterate capable of using to be able to record simple data 4) About and hour or two a week, some weeks are busier than others.

SYL Don't Spoil My Game

Dear All, thank you all for attending the presentation at Imber court on 18th April

A workshop presentation was made to member clubs aimed at informing the clubs of a Proposed Pilot to be run during 2016/17 aimed at eradicating poor touchline behaviour. The Pilot is gaining approval from the FA to proceed.

Please provide any feedback through your club secretaries who are asked to submit club views, to enable a vote at the AGM to approve the Pilot. 20/Apr/2016

SYL 2016/17 Application Form

Next Season's  ( 2015/16) application form is now available Applications must be received by April 30th to guarantee continued member status .

Please note that as an FC Charter Standard League we will only be processing applications from Charter Standard Clubs or those who demonstrate a commitment to achieving it in the foreseeable future. This does not prevent non Charter Standard clubs from applying but it does mean that they will need to highlight their intentions below and contact Frank Thompson ASAP to get an agreed plan in place.


The League has the right to refuse membership to a current member Club if it fails to demonstrate commitment to achieving the award. We will help clubs as much as possible with their application but the clubs must have an achievable plan.          7/Apr/2016
