THE LAUNCH OF
THE SURREY COUNTY GIRLS LEAGUE
FOR 2002/03 SEASON
The
Surrey County F.A. is delighted to announce the formation of the Surrey County
Girls League (SCGL), in consultation with the West Surrey Youth League (WSYL).
The
SCGL was originally formed by the Surrey County F.A. and with the help of
Michelle Jeffcoate (F.A. Girls League Co-ordinater) established contact with
many of the current girls teams throughout the County.
The
concept was to unite all the girls teams aged between 10 - 18 within Surrey
County and the neighbouring Counties to form a unique girls league. The WSYL
fully supported the Surrey County F.A.'s concept of the girls league and offered
its facilities as the league's Management Committee.
On
Thursday 20th June 2002 at the inaugural SCGL AGM, held at the Woking Football
Club the league was officially formed. The SCGL members elected the following
officers as the Management Committee, Kieron Cotter (Chairman), Dave Workman
(General Secretary), David Lomax (Treasurer), other committee members appointed
were, Press & Results Secretary, Fixtures Secretaries 7 a-side and 11 a-side
, Referees Secretary and Disciplinary Secretary. The League will provide 7
a-side football for girls aged 10 -12 and 11 a-side football for girls aged 12
-18. The leagues season will commence on 22nd September and end on 11 May 2003.
This
is a very exciting innovation by the Surrey County F.A. and West Surrey Youth
League and we are encouraged by the tremendous support and interest shown by
teams wishing to join the league.
Any
New Club wishing to join the league or to make membership enquiries should make
an application on the WSYL Web Site www.wsbl.org.uk
or Dave Workman on 020 8391 1347 @ davegail.wsyl@virgin.net
