"To All Managers and Club Secretaries

You should all have received a copy of a letter from Ray Ward, Secretary of Surrey County FA dated 17 October 2007 click here for details  . If you have not seen it you will find a copy as an attachment to this announcement. The letter addresses the particular of problem of adult misconduct at youth matches. It makes for grim reading. The number of youth football games abandoned as a result of the misconduct of adults is continuing at an unacceptable level.

This League is determined to do its utmost to support each County FA in its drive to eradicate this problem. I am sure that the vast majority of clubs, who conduct themselves in appropriate manner, will endorse this.

For the small minority who continue to disgrace themselves and bring the League into disrepute they need to be very clear about the risks they will run. Any team causing a match to be abandoned as a result of misconduct by parents/supporters or managers or whose parents/supporters or managers  engage in abusive or violent behaviour can expect to receive severe penalties. Under the League Rules this may include not only substantial fines but the deduction of points (not only for the match in question but also further points) and, in serious cases, suspension of the team from all further participation in League matches.

Yours faithfully,

Philip Marshall QC
Disciplinary Secretary
