The procedure
is set out below
Clubs requesting a referee for
their game should contact Alan Wiggins by e-mail
alan.wiggins@wsyl.org.uk
stating the game, the venue and most importantly the ko time.
Ideally the request should be
made no later than the Monday before the game (6 days
notice).
You must request a ref on a week
by week basis due to the constantly changing fixtures. Priority will be
given to the older age groups, but there are a number of young referees who
are available for the younger teams.
Some clubs are self sufficient
and can supply their own referees, but these must not come from those
referees listed in the handbook. The League referees can only be
booked through the Referee Sec.
and we will be quite strict on this rule. The League also reserves the
right to appoint referees to certain games if we feel this is appropriate. Whilst it is impossible to cover
all games, we do have a good number of refs and we will do our best to meet
your requirements".
Last season's procedure worked
quite well and will be adopted again for this season. i.e. Clubs e-mail Alan
Wiggins no later than the Monday before the Sunday game.
If you make contact any
later you stand the risk of missing out because all the refs
maybe allocated elsewhere.
On receipt of all the requests,
they are matched against the list of available referees, and often one
referee will be used for two games when the location (s) and/or kick off
times permit. Many clubs have a number of teams playing on the same ground
with staggered ko times, so it obviously makes sense to talk to your
colleagues. Perhaps you could appoint a pitch/referee officer so that
only one person from your club contacts the Ref Sec ?
Once the refs are allocated,
you, your opponents and the referee will all be sent the same e-mail
confirmation. Clubs must still confirm the
arrangement with the referee in case he does not know the venue. If you have any queries or need
further clarification please contact me daytime or evening on 01932 789376
or alan.wiggins@wsyl.org.uk
Finally clubs are reminded of
the change to rule 10(AA) introduced for this season. When contacting the opposition
with details of the game, the home club must additionally advise details of
the qualified referee that they plan to
use for the game. This applies to all referees, whether they are League
Refs, Referees your club uses, or personnel from your club. The important
point is that they are qualified referees
